Default Any cheap engine oil deals?

Anyone aware of any cheap engine oil deals for a 2.0d in the uk? Eurocarparts seem to want £35 for shell 5L which is about £10 more than i paid for it this time last year.

Hmm, best not to take risks with engine oil. Oil is cheap, engines are expensive, basically.

OK, yes, we always like to get a bargain, but I would never take risks with engine oil. The price of oil today reflects the basic oil price which is about double what it was a year ago.

Premium oil has become more difficult to source and more expensive in the UK in the last twelve months. I'm not sure on the JLR oil recommendation for the XE but the sourcing approach I use for my models will be equally applicable.

The JLR recommendation for both my XK and F-PACE is Castrol EDGE Professional EC 0W-20 to specification STJLR.03.5006 and STJLR.51.5122 0W-20. I've previously obtained this from Opie Oils or Euro Car Parts. The former wanted 24 UKP per litre and the latter had no stock.

I did what I always do and Googled the specification. In March I found Broughton Lubricants offered the best price:

Prices can change very quickly and it always pays to check. I also keep watch for special offers and buy oil and other service items in advance to take advantage of discounts.

I just did an OCI on my 2.0T gas/petrol a week ago. Right now, I am running 0W-20 Valvoline Extended Protection Full Synthetic on a 5K miles OCI here in the USA. I don't do Jaguar's recommended 20K miles OCI. For me, it is far too stretched. If I do, I have to get Jaguar's recommended oil 0W-20 with specs STJLR.51.5122.

I was able to get 2 x 5L Petronas 7000 F J cans from Halfords in the end, if you sign up for their motoring club you get a £10 discount which brought the individual drum price down to £28.19. Cheapest I could find.
