Default A bit of irony some where

A few days after delivery I gradually noticed two problems:-

A flat spot on the tires.
A curious faint jerking as the car rolled to a slow stop. Felt like warped rotors, but this is a new car right?. So got on an expressway and made a 100kph stop. Definitely warped rotors.

The dealer was apologetic, didn’t have a loaner and rented a car for me. So what turns up? An MB W205 that I had decided not to buy and go for the Jag instead.

Got to be a bit of irony here….

However all is well. 3 days with the MB confirmed that I really didn’t like it, even though it’s worthy in many areas. Getting back in the J. felt so much better.

So were the brakes.

How bizarre to have warped rotors in a brand new car!

It was an issue with some of the S40 volvos, but not until they had about 5,000km on them

When I picked up the car it had 34 km on the clock- mostly I guess moving around docks, delivery etc. Surprising that I got to the first stop sign and thought "these brakes are bit odd" No one at Jag or the dealer did?

My app told me that the tech's test drive was around the block for a mere 1 km. He then verified my complaint. So, not hard to detect.

On the plus side Jaguar dealt with it promptly and without quibble and I learnt that the phone app is a way to keep track of car jockeys at hotels and restaurants

My car did the EXACT same thing re: warped rotor feeling. It went away eventually. I believe it was the transmission "learning" how to creep forward.

I had this weird feeling sometimes when coming to a stop where the car would lurch as if it were stalling. Went away after 1500 miles and a tune.

I cross shopped a c300 and I really did not like it or the offerings from BMW. Only audi and Alfa offered competitive cars, but audi had terrible lease deals all around and Alfa had bad lease deals for non-conquest leasees.

I don't know about transmission learnng, but I definitely had warped rotors. The original ones pulsed strongly at expressway speeds - the new ones are smooth as they should be.

Steel 12. You are certainly right about Alpha lease deals. Locally JLR charge 1.9% versus Alpha at 6.9%. Not that I tried an Alpha.

Cheers
