Hello I need help removing this metal rail on the XE trunk my friend thought it be a clever place to hide something but instead said item went all the way to the right corner of the rail which I’m not sure what it leads to and I can’t reach the item now so I’m wondering how to remove the rail but I don’t know where to start. I added pictures the circle is where he put the item.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

 

How about a flexible grabber tool, and maybe an inspection mirror?

I don't think that rail above the trunk/boot is actually removable - you can see that a line of rivets hold it in place so it's likely to be structural. If the lost item has any iron or steel in it, you could try a magnet on a flexible arm like the grabber tool. Another option would be to wrap some duct tape, sticky side outwards around the end of a grabber tool to see if that might drag it out.
It's also possible that, if you removed the carpeted trim panel on the right hand side of the trunk, you might be able to get into the end of the rail.
