I believe the MT is a ZF unit. I also think BMW uses a ZF manual so they are likely the same box.

Yes, it is the same ZF in the 1, 3, and 4 series, and also the same unit in the F-Type base V6 and V6S, which debuted in 2016.

That's great news!
