Hello! Just looking for some advice, my XE started going into limp mode yesterday wouldn’t rev past 2000, the engine temp jumped up to red and highest point then seconds later back down to normal middle point. My step granda took a look today said it misfires at 4000 revs making a popping noise. He checked the oil was fine and coolant was low he said. Not sure what to do as local garage can’t see it for a few days.
assuming need to get diagnostics done - no lights on the dash or anything

 

This looks like the cause of your troubles. So how low is the coolant ? Any obvious leaks ?

 

Thanks for getting back - the engine management light would normally come on and a coolant low warning pops up if it was that - it’s not too low however we are filling it up today to see what like it is after that. I’ve done it a couple times before but normally after being prompted by the engine management light or warning. No leaks

 

If the engine went into Limp mode, then I would think it's almost certain there wlll be a fault code present in the memory.
