No it has not been confirmed at all by any source. Simply put... I think it would be a very nice looking coupe and why not drop a V8 in it?!?!?

Lothar, talking with the Jaguar people, there was never any mention of a 2 door version. Honestly, I don't see them making one simply because the general desire of the modern day auto buyer is for a 4 door "sedan", not a 2 door coupe. So, you are in the minority and most manufacturers have simply given up on a 2 door coupe unless it is designed from the beginning to only be a 2 door coupe (ie, F-Type). So, you can kinda think of things as the "2 door XE coupe" is really the F-Type. So, there you have what you are after. Granted, the F-Type is going to be a car with a lot more bells and whistles than what the XE is going to come with.
Kinda like the XE has not had any Jaguar mentioning of getting a V8. So, if you are holding out for that, you might have a long wait. It may happen, but I don't see it in the near future. If you look at the trend in the XJ/XF area, you can now only get a new car with the supercharged V8 as I recall. The N/A V8 has gone away due to fuel efficiency requirements. Granted, I am sure the supercharged V8 in the XE would just break your heart. LMAO.

According to the launch in London, there will only be the Ingenium 4-cylinder diesel, and the 3 litre turbocharged petrol engines available in early production, but the US won't get the car for another 12 months, so plenty of time to put in the V8 engine assuming enough people demand it.
There will be Ingenium petrols at some point. That is the engine that interests me. Incidentally, before WW2, the biggest seller in Jaguar was the 4-cylinder 1.5 litre, (actually 1.7 litres). The bigger 6-cylinder engines made the profits and the small engine paid the costs. The Standard Motor Company made all of Jaguar's engines before the War.

While my XJ was in the shop for a fuel sensor replacement I got the chance to have a brand new (160 miles on the odo) XE 35t loaner that had almost all the bells and whistles. Wow, what fun! More fun and sound than a BMW340 and handled just as well and better over bumps. Felt a lot like my old 2001 XJR, just not as luxurious The center infotainment/nav/etc was great.
