I want to get a spare key programmed as my new-to-me 2018 XE 20d only came with one fob. I found a local place that charges a flat fee for programming any number of fobs. I am getting one fob from them (so I know they'll have to make it work before I pay) and I'd like to purchase another fob from the interwebs at a reduced rate for them to program at the same time.

I see lots of options out there, but they recommend matching the FCC# and/or part#, neither of which I can find anywhere. Can someone enlighten me about these key fobs and where I might find the FCC# or part#?

Part number and FCC ID are inside the fob case. Do you know how to use the physical key to open the case? It’s in the manual. I didn’t post a picture as I think the label includes the code for my physical key.

I know how to get to the emergency key blade...but are you saying to open the fob further? That I haven't tried yet. I'll look it up in the manual - Thanks!

 

Once you’ve got the key out, it goes into the gap between the clamshell halves. Then twisting it pops the halves apart.

That’s how you change the battery.
