Agreed. Apples to apples would be a Project 8 vs the SS. And certainly the V8 Jag would destroy the SS in any racing condition. I'd love a chance to race against an SS myself, especially since I installed the V3's.

Original video here. They raced an 380HP R car (NOT fully tuned) against the 400+ hp 8cyl. What did the folks think was going to happen? Not a surprise after all... BTW any VAP tuned 3.0L XE with a pulley would take the stock SS.

Nope, according to the article, this: " One of them accepted the quarter-mile challenge of a tuned Jaguar XE with 380 horsepower and 332 pound-feet (450 Nm) of torque from a 3.0-liter V6 engine with a honkin’ supercharger throning over it. What’s more, the British interloper is all-wheel drive compared to the RWD Chevrolet SS."

So they also raced the slower 4wd version of the Jag (vs 2wd). And the "Tune" they refer to is in fact a factory DETUNE of that lovely AJ126 which is found with a 400HP factory tune on the older F-types, and tunes up to 450HP with VAP's tune and pulley. Not 380.

Why not just race a McLaren? I bet I can predict the outcome of that too, lol.

All I can say is I love to pick the SS's out of traffic and give them a run. They are always surprised looking in my rear-view! And at an original MSRP of $46.6K for that SS in 2017, my little 2017 RWD $42K Jag (bought new with five years ppd service intervals and free roadside assistance) seemed the better bargain.
