Default 12v power tap, best source?

2015 Jaguar XF: where's the best 12v tap under the hood for an aftermarket accessory? I want to hook up an ultrasonic mouse repeller! I think the best trick would be to wire up a dummy fuse and hit an open bay in the fuse box, but I'm all ears if you have a better idea, or experience in the matter. Thanks in advance.

Why wouldn't you install a stationary ultrasonic mouse repeller in your garage? This will eliminate the possibility of battery discharge. Unless you want to repel mice from approaching the moving vehicle

There is an ultrasonic mouse repeller in the garage. The garage holds a lot of other vehicles, and the Jaguar is low man on the totem pole, so it lives outside. The draw for the ant-pest thing is minimal, 20 mA, so I'm sure it will be fine. Do you have an answer to contribute?

I do. Since the battery is in the trunk I'd tap it to a jumping connection. You know, the one you clip jumpers cables to.

But that's just my 2c. The easier the better.

I will be locating this device beneath the hood of the car, to protect the wiring in the engine compartment. Therefore, I will tap a line closer to where it's needed.

Jumping connectors ARE beneath the hood of a car. Battery is in the trunk, but the connector is under the hood.

No battery contacts under the hood on this model/year. I found a good spot in the fuse box.
