Default Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) experience?

Just curious, has anyone had any experience with the AEB system? Save your butt? Or a mistaken/unnecessary trigger?

FWIW.... I've followed similar requests on multiple forums and the only responses I've seen said the system kicked in slightly before they responded. A couple said they had false response activation momentarily that scared the crap out of them from cars getting/passing too close. It's still a feature I want to get on my next car though and something I wish every car came standard with (to protect me ).

I don't even know if I have it on my car. Does it come with one of the packages?

I can't find where Jaguar offers it for any model. I conflated it with EBA (Emergency Brake Assist) which they do have but that's something different.

AEB is briefly described on page 95 in the manual that came with the 2017 I picked up this month last year. It states it doesn't come with every model, but the Jag website said it was standard with the R-Sport, one of the reasons I ordered that model.

XE owner here...

AEB has engaged on me twice in error. Once on an empty road... my only guess is I was approaching a slight hill and it thought it was a wall??? Another time it engaged when I passed a parallel parked car on my left. Both times it very quickly realized it was being stupid and stopped slamming the brakes.
