Default Front Parking Aid Issue

I picked up a 2017 XF S recently with InControl Touch Pro (technology pkg) and love it so far. Since I took delivery, I’ve noticed a slight issue when engaging the front parking aid sensors, though.

In my F-Type, I can enter my driveway and press the parking aid button, even if rolling forward very slowly. The front sensors will activate every time flawlessly.

When I do this in the XF, the parking aid button flashes amber and does not engage. If I put the car in park, then drive and press the parking aid button again, the light will go solid and the front sensors work fine (The car was always clean and the sensors were not obstructed in any way each time).

This happens consistently on my car and leads me to believe it is a software issue specific to the XF. I will ask the dealer to check this on my next service visit, but wonder if anyone else is experiencing this problem. So far, everything else works great.

I would get this checked out. I have the same package on my XE and it works every time, even without having to press the parking sensor while I park in the garage.

I spoke to the very knowledgeable dealer specialist today who showed me all the features at delivery. He agrees that what is happening is not normal. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing something wrong.

I will have the dealer check it out on my next service.

Next time you put them on, hold the 'button' down for a bit. This switches the operating mode so that they always come on below a certain speed (I think it's 9mph).

Thanks, I will try your suggestion this weekend. I always thought the sensors should activate automatically at low speeds, but the owner’s manual is vague on how the system works. Mine only says to push the parking aid button to activate it.

Funny thing is that the parking aid worked properly the past two days when I pushed the button. I have consistently used the same steps when activating it and have gotten different results: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I believe it faulted out for some reason when it did not work.

Shouldn't the parking sensor/aid automatically come on when you pull into the driveway?

After talking to the specialist at my dealer, it seems Jaguar did not design the front sensors to activate automatically. Too bad because it works so well in my Mercedes. I also must push the front sensor button to activate on my F-Type as well.

I still have an issue with my front sensors working intermittently. Fortunately, I have no other issues requiring a service visit, so I will let it wait. I am hoping this is a simple software issue.

Yes in my E63 they just worked, in this car the software engineering logic is flawed. The sensors should activate automatically IMO.

Once reverse is chosen the front parking aids are always activated. My front parking aids activate .... with or without reverse being chosen ... when I am parking and inching up on my spot. If I just pull in and stop there's nothing. So I think there's some parameters that activate the sensors.
