Default Help with engine oil type please

I've noticed that before I collected my car (V6 S) it had an oil change and semi synthetic was put in. The handbook says to use Castrol Edge fully synthetic. If I need to top the oil up, is it OK to add fully synthetic to the current semi synthetic?
Also, at oil change time, is it ok to simply drain the semi and put in fully synthetic? I've heard oil flushing isn't advised
Thanks for any advice

If it were me, I'd just top up with the correct (fully synthetic oil), then change to the correct oil at oil change time. You don't need to use flushing oil on modern cars unless they've done a lot of miles. The mechanic I used to use, (he retired), always put a can of engine flush into the oil before draining it, but then I was driving older cars. One thing I do, though, is change the oil and filter every 12 months as I think the Jaguar interval for my car, (2 years) is too long.

Thanks Fraser. I actually posted on this forum in error (as a newbie!) as well as on the F Type forum, where my car query belongs. I had lots of useful input there as well, but thanks for yours
