Jaguar Vehicle Enhancement Program
I just received snail mail notification as in the thread title. Updates for MY'16 and '17 to address :
"- Infotainment software and/or hardware update to improve system reliability and other enhancements.
- Updated engine software with improved robustness enhancements and addressing possible 'check engine light' illumination.
- Electrical software updates to improve battery performance."
Since my car has been bug free I hate to fix something that isn't broken and possibly introduce a problem. Anyone have this service performed on your X260? Notice any differences/results?

Had my Canadian XF in for recall update to software to reduce time system shuts down it's electronics or something like that. I don't see any difference and I get the noise like something is still running for about 15 minutes before it shuts down. The idea I gather is to reduce the draw on the battery. No problem with it but I will have them recheck end of month. No mention of Infotainment system but I don't have the 10.1 fancier unit. Never had a check engine light problem either. Car has been better than the 528i I had previously. With all the electronics in these modern cars I think 2 batteries will be the next stage. If battery gets too low certain systems are shut down. Same for BMW btw as I had a defective battery in mine when new. Jag has a 20 percent reserve I gather whatever that does.

If you have the Vision Package I believe that's the LED light power supply cooling fans. It kicks in anytime you even touch the car (with or without key being present) and after you shut the car off.

Would that involve the car battery in terms of battery useage. I was under the impression the recall was to shut down the electrical systems quicker to save on battery consumption. I was also told by dealer that my Jag with LED headlamps does NOT have cooling fans which were used on earlier models?
Dunno

Earlier models had Xenon (Halogen?) lights that were cooled directly by fans. The LED lights on the X260 run cool like any LEDs but the power supplies that drive them don't. There's one PS/fan for each headlight PS. I'm no expert but that's what I've learned while searching for the source of the noise after I exit the car.

Yes. Maybe they programmed it not to activate if the headlights haven't been used enough to heat the components up. Now I can go up to my car in the garage at any time, touch the door handle, and the fans activate... you can hear the hum.

Many thanks. I am going to get a clear clarification of the LEDs and, re battery useage, an explanation of what this HUM is all about. The HUM goes on for quite a while. I am guessing that it has something to do with the overall electrical systems being monitored when you open doors, and that sort of thing. My previous BMW would do the same thing but for a shorter period. I will let you know what I find out.
