Well I thought the existing XF was brilliant but Caradvice say the new one is better. I have to say I had my doubts about having the XE and the XF look so similar, and I still prefer the backside of the current model, but this is all looking very positive.

Cheers Bruce.

I just read the same article and was about to share it when I saw you already posted it lol!

Mate the only thing I'm confused is, when they say 2016 model does that mean 15MY or 16MY ? The usually build these cars a year before the release date right?

The reason I ask is I got this price guide from a local Jag dealer however I think it is for the next one after that.

As I under stand it the latest isnt being released until November right?

I dunno, but one of the guys on the XK forum mentioned the other day that he had a MY10 built in Jan 09, I always thought that the model year came out a few months before the calendar year.

So my guess would be that all new shape XFs will be a MY16

yeah i think your right. I'm still learning about the XF but I found this comparision link pretty good:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...vs-new-148051/

Things they I find to help me "spot the difference" in pictures is the new XF has a red in the Growler badge, and also it has a leaper on the steering wheel, where as the older model has the growler...i think.

The new one bloody looks nice though eh?

My warranty expires in less than a year and have been contemplating what to do. Extended warranty or something else. Being my first sport sedans after a string of SUV's has me hooked and wanting more, primarily more sport. My 11SC has the engine power and style. What I am looking for is less body roll and more control. Steering is excellent. Also current XF has its squeaks and creaks. I expect the 12's and up have been improved, including the feel of components, like turn signal stalk, rotary drive shift and other controls. The F-type is on my list to sample, but no seating for 4 is a challenge if one car is the goal. Also there's the winter thing. The stiffer body design is probably the most encouraging development in the XF. The loss of the coupe like look, particularly in back, is the most disappointing. The interior looks very refined to me. The current model has simple, elegant lines, mistaken in my opinion for an old look by some critics. Ian Callus knows design and elegance. I am not enamored with the layered dash at the window line, but the interior looks better than the early photos. I hope they stop the comparison to Audi interiors as I don't see them as class leading, and haven't for some time. Seems like us V8 enthusiasts may be out of luck. If the S version is under 5 seconds 0-60, no sweet spot SC, like my current may be offered. It may take 100k US to buy the SVR, priced like an M5. Where's the equivalent to the BMW 550, 0-60 in 4.3, for 75k? Front looks sharp. The comment about getting the right color and wheels to set it off means it isn't an F type, pretty in any color. Should be interesting.

I've been similar, though I am sticking with the XKR for myself and looking to get a Jag sedan for my wife. She has a v40T5 CC which is a great car, but it's not a Jag.

In any event, I have been thinking of the XE 2.5T R spec (whatever) or biting the bullet and going for the XE S, but the XE S is within a bee's dick of the XF S in price, or so it seems unless they go up a bit with the new model. But really it is looking like the XE will be within 10% of the comparable XF...

Decisions decisions...

You are right about colour. Cant go wrong with silver in the XF, there is a reason why it was the hero colour when it came out.

I have toyed with the idea of an XKR used, but the new aluminium architecture may be the trump card. The aluminum designs should be a tight, solid car's if the F type i's amy indication.. It will be all about the driving feel as 1st priority. I haven't driven an XK, but should give it a try. There is a 2013 for sale in the classifies with XKRS dynamic pack. I expect i'd try all forms, including the f pace, but I suspect to get more sport driving it will be a non suv. It seems Jag understands what it needs to do .

Are you going to get the v6TT diesel in the US? I've driven it in the current XF, it is a beautiful engine that behaves more like a small bore v8 than a diesel, and instead of a diesel clatter you get a nice whoosh noise of air being sucked in.

Just wondering given today's news of more disaster for Audi/Porsche with their 6 diesel - there is a real opportunity for Jag to take some Audi market share in particular, unless of course diesel is on the nose in more ways than one.

What until you drive it. Its so wonderful to feel and hear the engine sing, and so obedient when the back slides out under power. Finally a Jaguar 3.0 in a sedan that sounds wonderful. Car & Driver tested out the XE with a 4.5 second run to 60 mph. That's with only 340 hp.

Look at the significant difference in recorded 0-60 mph runs between a 340 hp F Type and
the 380 hp F Type S. You can see the measured difference the added 40 hp make. That acceleration difference will cross over when it's in the sedans, which means the 380 AWD aluminum sedans could be faster than any of the steel supercharged rear drive V8 mon ster sedans.

Without any traction issues, AWD versions will be much faster than the rear drive supercharged V8's which have huge traction issues off the line.

Wouldn't that be a great drag race to watch. The aluminium Jaguars supercharged 3.0 blasts off the line with its better traction and 8 speed transmission. Running away and gaining a lead, like its afraid for its life.

From a huge cloud of white smoke emerges the raging supercharged V8. Bellowing it's battle cry with its steel body and 6 speed transmission, it abuses it tires without mercy as it chases down the smaller Jag.

Will it before the 1/4 mile comes up?
