Hello gents,

I have a 2016/17 Jag XF S and I have tried to keep the rotating outer vents on permanently open. I have gone into the settings screens under 'climate' and have pressed the option to keep the vents on 'always open' numerous times, but they always close once the ignition has been turned off. Is there a step that I am missing?

I suspect it's like "latched recirc", the design boffins are convinced they know more than you despite ambient conditions, and intend your car to remain as they intended. Consider yourself lucky there's even a temporary bypass (see "auto stop/start").

 

I tried something like this:
Set the parameter "always open"-> HVAC Off with the fan speed button (while the engine is running)-> Ingition off
After that the vents were kept open.

 

Ah. okay. I shall definitely try that method the next time I'm in the car

Yeah...I've checked myself and indeed they stay open after locking the car, but at the moment you unlock the doors vents hide themselves. Funny glitch

 

Exactly what mine do. They stay open when you turn the ignition off, but as soon as you unlock the car and start the engine, they close, and then reopen. Then when you go into climate settings, it states 'vents rotate' even though you selected 'always open' Strange
