Default A/C vents not popping up!

Help! The A/C vents are not coming up when I turn on a/c. I have a 2017 Ftype R. It is so hot here in FL! I can’t get the car in for service until Tuesday! Is there a manual way to get those vents up ? Just in the meantime?

Did you look in the menu on screen where the vent action is controlled? Did you check the setting for floor, face and defroster air flow? You can set the system so that the centre dash vent is always open, but it just might be that the air flow settings need adjustment.

If it's hot, I'd expect the vents to raise - that's how I know spring is on the way in the UK after a winter when the vents stay shut. But it'd be a good test to set them to always open rather than Auto and see what happens.

thank you, SOV211! It was on defrost. I have no idea how that happened….but I changed it and the A/C vents popped back up. Whew! Crisis averted!

So many perceived "problems" are not really problems at all. Modern cars like the F-Type are so crammed with electronic features and variable settings that our own lack of understanding, failure to consult the owner's manual, or simply forgetting (in my case) cause us to think the sky is falling...and let's not forget (memo to self) that the overwhelming majority of complaints about the electronics have their source in one thing: low battery voltage - even though very often the problem and its real cause do not appear to be related. Invariably, correcting the issue of battery voltage resolves the matter. In this case it was even easier!

Human nature being what it is, we immediately assume the worst, and very often we fall into the myth of Jaguar unreliability. The truth is that modern Jaguars are, in automotive terms, very reliable cars - every bit as reliable as their rivals, as this former but not yet fully recovered BMW owner can attest.
