Default XF 10" Pro screen trim scratched. Replacement possible?

Hi all,

I am new to this forum having just purchased a pre-owned X260 XF. It is in lovely condition however the screen surround/trim/bezel has been scratched, probably down to long nails or something.

I know it is silly, but it bugs me to see considering how great the rest of the interior looks.

Has anyone got an idea on how I can replace this? Is the trim easy to get off? Also, where might be the best place to find a new one? Any help would be massively appreciated!

Thanks,

James

I wish I could help, because NO, your irritation is NOT silly. It's a brutal thing for the XE/XF interiors (which in those years were so heavily plastic to keep the cost affordable) to be nearly perfectly maintained,... and have ONE or TWO locations where someone muffed up and left an obvious scrape for your eyes to fall on every time you settle into your seat.

I just recently received my car back from the Jag repair shop, and they scratched my cup holder slot with the damn ID number tag they like to clip on your key fob (and the danged valet has the bad habit of "shoving the key fob into the cup holder" when he's got your car). I put CUPS and BOTTLES in the cup holder---that's what it's meant for, and I haven't scratched the cup holder once in 6 years. He puts two scratches on it when he had it in his possession for only 6 days.

Your saving grace with the XE/XFs from your year, is that they are like a big clockwork of snap-in parts. I loving refer to mine as a Clockwork Car.
I know for sure the trim can be replaced around the screen (it has to come out easily, so that the infotainment head unit can be accessed without pulling the whole dashboard apart).
Here in the US, there are still a few Jaguar Dealerships that also ship out replacement bits to customers who order by mail.
You'll just need someone else from this forum (or the UK Jaguar forum) to point you to the disassembly steps.
....I now need to consider doing the same for my XE cupholder.

And once again, neither of us is being silly.

Per my 2017 XE manual it looks like it just pops out
I would use a plastic trim tool and be super careful....

I love it. Like I said, a Clockwork Car. When I first had this car, it used to scare me.... so many places to get damaged. After the rear seating trim pull-out, the rear headrest replacement, the front windscreen rain-sensor removal and cleaning, the car doesn't scare me anymore.

...Now it's only the Jaguar service mechanics that scare me when I have to give them the keys for a few days. (no joke----scared ready to pooh).

Kudos, Oldguy!!!
