XF x260 Thermostat DIY
Hello,
I have recently bought Jaguar Xf 2016 X260 with a 2.0 Diesel engine.
What I can see that the car is not getting warm quickly and driving the car at 100-120 kmph the temperature gauge goes down rapidly till it reach Green mark on the coolant temperature. In the busy traffic, the car is warming up to the correct temperature, but it takes more than 30-40 minutes to reach there.
Also, Stop/Start function not working at all, it could be due to the temperature not at the optimum level to trigger the function. It seems like that the thermostat is stuck Open and needs to be replaced.
There is no fault code recorded by the car. Looking at the forums, it seems to be easy to replace the entire unit. I am looking at the thermostat here: https://www.auto-doc.ie/vemo/22288831
Can someone please guide me if my diagnosis is OK? and it is worth replacing the thermostat or something else might be wrong? Please also check the link above and please tell me if this is the correct part for Ingenium 2.0D engine?
Thank you in advance.

I just completed this task today - 6 Hours
There is a thread already on this topic - search for it

There is more dissassembly than the manual describes, tips are : There is a split coupler on the thermostat housing - use it rather than remove the hose.
I did remove the air filter housing and the coolant reservoir for ease and more space.
You cannot complete this task without a hose ring spreading tool.
I did remove the under engine covers and drained the coolant from the radiator drain plug - CAUTION do not over tighten as the plastic bolt will shear.
The bolts holding the thermostat are hard to get to.
Access to the 2 electrical connections are a real challenge.
The housing unit once all hoses and connections are removed is a real challenge to actually remove from the engine bay.
Unless you are very mechanically enclined and determined - consider using a jaguar repair shop.
IMPORTANT - ensure you have the right thermostat housing there are several versions.
My exact fit part number for my 2017 X260 Diesel was JDE40345
I ended up using 6 litres of coolant.
Finally - have several bandages, plasters and antibiotic cream LOL

What were the symptoms on your car that you decided to change it. Is the issue fixed now?
UPDATE:
So i did shear off the radiator plastic drain plug and Jaguar do not supply this as a part - they want you to replace the whole radiator.
I found a metal bolt with the same thread and used the O-Ring off the original bolt and then GOOP black auto sealant to ensure a good seal - Had to drill out the old plastic bolt threads. TIP: Just use the bottom radiator hose an inch away instead to drain.
TEST: works great. Was up to normal temperature with 3 Km's at -14deg C ( gotta love Canada winters )
I noticed that on the old Thermostat I could blow into the large intake with no restriction - but on the new one I could not.
