Used gloss black vinyl to cover the chrome, I will eventually paint them and th center of the grill black

Have you looked at Plasti-dip? This is how most people black out chrome these days. It's flat black, but if you want shiny, they have a "Glossifier."

Just YouTube plastidip for tons of videos. I used it on a Town Car's chrome, and it's the real deal.

 

Yea I have plasti dipped in the past on my jeep but for the jag I would want matching gloss black paint not a cheap rubbery look
