08 XF and JaguarVoice
I bought an 08 XF (2.7 Premier Luxury or somesuch) a while ago, and it has a lot of fun toys, but the one thing it doesn't have is JaguarVoice.
From reading a service guide, it appears that on this car JaguarVoice is a function of the navigation module, which is fitted.
So, does my car have this function, just disabled and thus a CCF update away, or is the service guide fibbing, and JV is a separate hardware module?

OK. Phoned dealer, got a "Well, if it wasn't part of the original spec then it's not available" answer, however the workshop manual doesn't show multiple units for Voice enabled/not enabled, which makes me think I'm looking at a CCF setting.
So - onwards to try and find somebody with a clue about this sort of thing in north England.

I thought it was an option - unless it's standard on more recent models. Mine's a 2010 (3.0D S Portfolio) with Navigation and Bluetooth (so has the mics) but no JaguarVoice, which I'm a little disappointed about because I like my techie/gimmicky things :-)
As I understand it from reading around, JaguarVoice is in a module that fits on the wiring loom where the nav system is in the boot but you need to have Bluetooth to have the mics etc installed which means you'll probably have the correct wiring loom, but if no Bluetooth, probably a different wiring loom that won't take the module.
If I checked the wiring loom is there for a module to be plugged in, does anyone know where I could get the voice module? I've had a look on eBay and there's some abroad - USA etc but I'd rather get something from the UK and looking around part suppliers can't seems to find one...

I had a 2010 XF with the interactive voice control and it was extremely poor at actually being functional. Additionally the design required that your memorized a lot of specific phrases to work it at all, so I just listened to the female British English accent Navigation voice because it sounded cool. Not a big deal if you live in England. When I purchased a 2011 XF SC the dealer told me that because of this poor functionality that they had been instructed by Jaguar to just disable the voice recognition feature.
I just purchased a 2012 XJL and the new interactive voice control It works very well, because the system prompts you with the applicable phases based on your previous responses. Also, when you pick the type of voice such as American English vs British English the system is tuned to recognize the dialect you pick. No more listening to that female British voice. I don't know how well it works with a strong southern accent in the USA

UK counts from registration date. Also, the first production XF sold in the UK were built late in 2007.
Since the car went on sale in North America in February 2008 it seems a bit questionable to call any early XF an ''09.

The first MODEL year for the XF in the USA was 2009, even though they were built as early as 11/07.
As stated above, the UK uses registration date and thus the early UK models would be 2008 registered.
Clear as mud?
