Default 09 Boot won’t lock AT ALL?!?

Hello I’ve been trying to find a thread for my specific issue but haven’t seen anything yet

I have a 09 Jag XF premiere luxury light blue. I recently changed the boot, number and right tail light because on 9/11 some idiot hit me at 50 mph at a red light 7am on my way to work and dipped off. I press the button on the handle to lock and it double beeps indicating that it’s open still.

On the dash it keep indicating in red that the boot is open. This has been happening even before the crash & body fix up. I changed the batteries of the fob, I press down on the boot even fiddle with the clip that wraps around the latch but nothing. I have to lock it with the physical key within the fob. I need some sort of ideas of what I can try. Also I’m in Brooklyn NY. No house for any DIY methods no garage either. I appreciate anyone that responds thank you in advance!

The most common issue is the boot loom where it bends between the body & the boot. Easy to check, just pull the rubber grommet back so you can inspect the wires, these often break, easy to repair with a soldering iron & shrink wrap!

Yes follow John Williams suggestion. It's a pretty common problem but easy to fix.

Also east to get replacement wiring loom for that set of wires. Think it's around $100 (maybe gone up now...). Once one wire breaks the others won't be far behind.
Very easy to unplug and replace.

I had a similar situation where the boot wouldn't close it kept opening constantly.

So i took things apart i found that there's a small switch that gets worn down by rubbing against the lock mechanism.

I added a drop of glue on top of the switch, a temporary fix until i got a new lock mechanism.

You can see the rubbing mark.

Thank you gentlemen sorry for my late reply. I’m going to check it out. This is my very first Jag I love it but it’s also hard to find someone that can work on it. I just added the Jaguar Leaper to it and I feel like my Jag is a million dollar car but what I wanna do is keep my maintenance up so that I’m not hit with hefty surpr
