Default 12 volt supply for drl lights jaguar xf

Hi, i have a jaguar xf 2008 prem lux 2.7d rhd

I have purchased a set of drl lights (yes i know love or loathe them...) and wish to connect an ign switched 12v live wire to them, Does anyone know the nearest place in and around the engine bay or front bumper where i could find this switched supply?
I didn't want to connect them to side lights.

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks Gill

Default Found live ignition feed for drl jaguar xf

Hi, heres an update on my last question.
I found there is a spare 12v ign live feed in the fuse box located under the bonnet. I simply used a spade terminal on the end of my fused link and drl's are now up and running. They look much neater on the headlights than in the lower blades. May post pics when i get time.

Yes please, I am a fan of DRL's even if only for safety reasons (Virginia drivers suck in normal circumstances, seem to be even worse in low light situations before the auto headlamps kick in). I'm a sucker for the look anyway, curious to see your headlamp install.

Could you post pics of where you wired them as well? The ones integrated to the blades would be fine with me if I could find ones that fit with the '10 XF SC so I'll probably need to know this eventually.

How do you get the DRL on the headlights? How does it get around the headlight washer unit? Maybe a picture says a thousand words.
But I think someone should make a new set of headlight unit with the DRL which replaces the old unit?

Smile pictures of drl under headlights

Hi all, Will take pictures of drl under headlamps and location of wire/terminal in fuse box. Mine had a spare fuse slot that isnt used by the electrics, handbook states it is a "12+ ignition", tested it with volt meter and it only comes on with ignition switch.
Weathers been pretty bad here so not had chance to get camera out yet. But im seeing lots of rubber necking when i hit the road...lol
The photos will show how i've styled them, avoiding the headlamp wash. wts

Default xf blade install or not?

Hey shikk
as far as im aware, if you're doing the blade install, you might want to wire them up to the loom/plug thats sits behind your bumper & get a jag dealer to enable them via new software & they'll function like factory installed ones, (dim when headlights on at night), only drawback is that it costs more dollars.
I did'nt do the blade install, personal prefference i guess. lots of cars in my area with drls fitted low down and to me they look like an obvious add on, i think the integrated look under headlights is better. But hey it's your car so who the hell am i to tell you where to stick em...

are these the type that you cut to fit, and they stick on with sticky tape? i was going to purchase a set but was worried they would fall off in the rain or at the car-wash. Do you have a link to what/where you bought them ?

Default stick on drl lights

Hi, yes they are stick on ones. whilst one set was ok at night, I wasn't happy with the amount of light they were giving in the daytime, so have done the refit again with 2 sets stuck back to back, then moulded them to suit under the headlights also fitted a shut off relay that turns 1 set off when sidelamps come on.
I used double sided tape to stick to bumper edge and fitted clear plastic u shape clips behind to secure them properly. With the headlights in place, you can't notice them untill they switch on.... im happy now

Cheers Shikk, if you read my previous post, you will know that i have redone the install, i will post better pics of the front headlights on monday. Pics don't do it justice really, hard to shoot bright light as camera compensates exposure, causing lights to appear dimmer. 2 sets stuck back to back are very bright, comparable to factory install ones i'd say.

I think I'd fit them a little further away from the center of the car and closer to the outside edges to match the lines of the DRL's on the 2012 models, but it still looks good to me!

Yes MXF i only put those wires there to show where i took supply from for someones previous post. They are acctualy fed in from underneath the fuse box neatly, with 2amp 12v fuse inline, cable tied to existing looms also & not as you see them in the pic. thanks for your concern tho MXF...lol

Comments on pic please... cheers

Looks great but I can't seem to get a proper color out of the aftermarket stick on strips. Even the "White" led has a very blue tone. I have just purchased the Adamesh arden factory style bumper chrome style. I know they require removing the bumper but I really want a clean, factory look. I would prefer an after market set built into a new set of lights but I can't imagine the cost. (even though these cost 700.00 before install!) It's the only upgrade I plan to do to a perfect car so why not! Oh, I did add the chrome vents and morrors.
DOes anyone have any pics of these blade drl's installed on their car??

I have just fitted the blade type drls to my XF a bit of a fiddle removing the from bumper, I am hoping to wire them up to the ignition not the side lights, does any one know how to wire them in to go of when the lights are switched on. this kit appears to be the same as the Admesh ones but were supplied by a Jag dealer and the destructions supplied ar not good.
