2010 Jag XF 5.0 - Regular or Synthetic
My intention is not to start a war.... 
Just wondering what the general opinion is. The specs recommend Castrol and no mention of synthetic. What do you fine folks think?

The specs for your car actually do say whether synthetic or standard oil is to be used. Page 203 of your owner's manual:
V8 Petrol
engines5W-20 engine oil, meeting
Jaguar specification WSS
M2C925-A only
Brand name is irrelevant.
