Default 2010 XF Touch Screen

This is a question for XDAVE I think. My XF has developed a fault whereby none of the Portable Audio works (iPod Link, USB or Aux), local main dealer did some investigation and said that the fault is in the Touch Screen and to get it working the Touch Screen needs to be replaced which will cost upwards of €1500. My question is can the screen be replaced with a screen from the later 2012 XF without any problems. My car is April 2010 (2011 MY) with the old style display and has the Bowers & Wilkins stereo with portable audio as above. I have seen quite a few used replacement units around so I don't want to be paying €1500 for an old style one if I can help it.

UPDATE:

Well, I really don't know what's going on now!

Last evening I was out walking the dogs when I had the idea that I would find my old audio lead and plug that into the iPod and try and use the AUX port to play the iPod, no joy though as I'd found before that the Aux port didn't work either. I don't know why but just before I got back out of the car I plugged the iPod cable in with the audio lead still connected to the AUX port and low and behold the iPod link burst into life as did the USB port.

I've no idea if this is just a coincidence or if there's a fault that just appears from time to time with the Portable Audio Interface, just as well I didn't go ahead and spend €1500 on a new Touch Screen!!

PS Had to go out for a 50 mile round trip drive this morning and it's still working fine (although the AUX port is still dead).
