2010 Used Jaguar XF 4dr Sedan XFR at Mercedes-Benz of Chandler Serving Phoenix, AZ, IID 14358162
Seems to look like it's pretty clean..the engine area looks clean and the seats don't look too used for 31K mikes...Brakes and little other wear and tear things I'd have looked at by a specialist...but not bad..If it checks out okay..I'd Offer $30,000 out the door...

Given the 2010 is significantly lower mileage that would be my bias if you can live with the red seats. 2010 and 2011 spec basically the same and price seems pretty good. CarFax is impt and check tyres and brakes as they go quickly...

Good luck - let us know what you end up deciding. With two cars in the running you have great negotiation leverage to get a good price too

I may have been incorrect on that assumption because I thought those with SC cars couldn't run the same front pads. But it was an assumption, so I might be the first part of the word here.

Well, as I am new to the whole XF platform, I went to check out the local 2011 XF SC - I have to say I almost scared myself to death when the cat roared into life. What an exhaust note. Which made me wonder if the stock car in general has an exhaust drone at around the 1700 RPM mark ? If that's just the way it is, then I guess you get used to it. I know on the Audi platform you can fit "performance" exhausts but the penalty is sometimes a cabin drone.

The other side effect seems to be a stupid grin I developed. I guess that will wear off. The dash does have some indication of the apparent known bubbling - guess Texas does that after a while.

At this point, I'm inclined to say that I was happy with the seats and didn't honestly miss the side bolstering. I also like the somewhat sleeper nature of the car. Oh what am I saying....

Next step is to get a PPI done by my local indie Jag shop. And figure out how to explain it to the wife. Maybe I could say the Cat just followed me home ?

Huge thanks to you guys for your comments and insights...

The stock XFR has absolutely no exhaust drone at all, under any conditions or revs.
It's also a bit muted and subdued until you bury the right foot, then the mechanical valves in the rear mufflers open up and it roars to life.
It also has a gadget called a "symposer" which pumps engine/induction sound into the cabin when you bury the right foot.
I believe the SC has the exact same exhaust system so it should sound and work the same and not drone at all.
I replace the stock rear mufflers on my XFR with "straight through" hi-flow mufflers (custom made ones) but they were just a bit too loud for my liking and suddenly I had annoying drone, mainly under load (such as going up a hill) around 1,500 to 2,500 rpm.
After a few weeks I switched back to the stock rear mufflers.
So I suspect the SC you tested has an after-market exhaust system, at least axle back if not cat back.

I disagree. In my XFS when I get deep into the pedal I can definitely hear the exhaust note.
But at cruising or idle, if it weren't for the slight engine shake/ruble I would barely know the car was even on.

My NA 5.0L has a very nice growl at giddy=up=go times..I expect that from this car..Mellow and quiet at cruising altitudes.

I passed on the 2011 XFSC as it did look like the mufflers had been replaced and together with the plastidipped alloys and the super dark tint in the rear windows (so dark on the back window I thought the photochromic rear view mirror was faulty) I believe this was a modders experiment. The infamous bubbling dash sealed it for me as a not this time.

So now negotiating on an older (2010) XFR with lower miles and a smooth dash. Tough job but someone has to do it....can't wait...

Sadly it's a long distance out of state relationship. So once the ink dries on the paperwork, shipping company takes over. Amazon Prime has us spoilt as it's going to take more than two days ;-)

If and when everything checks out, next step is to put an "R" badge on the grille!
Although that was about the fifth thing I did, after fitting the Coventry Whitley rims off my old XFS, replacing the air filters with K&Ns, machining the brake rotors and replacing the pads, and doing a paint correction (wash, clay bar, polish, wax).

OZ, I respectfully disagree. First thing he needs to do is spend an day accelerating up as many on ramps as possible while waiting for his R badge to arrive

I debated flying up to drive it 900 miles back but I didn't have a leisurely 14 hours available so I had it trailered. The dealership got me a better rate with their usual carrier than the quotes I had requested.

Am having trouble with a stupid grin at the moment.

Better get used to it. Have had mine more than two years and I still get it when I even think about my car, much less drive it.
