I received the following email from Jaguar:
Dear Owner,

Just like your Smartphone has manufacturer updates... we are pleased to announce that the 2012 software update is waiting for your Vehicle.

Check your calendars for a convenient time and visit our website to schedule your update appointment. The update is on us with no cost to you and will take approximately 1 hour.

We look forward to seeing you.

Does anyone know what this update does?

Interesting.. I wonder what it does as well. I may call my service rep to see what he knows.

 

Really can't answer that unless we have a little more information that is probably noted on that letter. There are a couple of possibilities, but some are restricted to particular VIN numbers, for instance, others certain VIN ranges.

Did anyone find out if this software upgrade is available for a 2009 Jaguar XF??

Is it actually no cost and what does it do?

 

I received the same note so we know it goes forward.

 

I have a 2011 XF Premium as well. I have not received that note--but when I had my car in for a different issue they updated the entertainment system software which amoung other things set the radio to turn off after ten minutes rather than an hour when the car is turned off--as there were apparently some battery drainage issues. So maybe its that update.

 

Wish they would update the navigation to a single disc operation
