Default 2012 XF - A/C NOT Cooling On Startup

No cold air upon startup and while the car is sitting still.
After driving a few miles at 45+ mph, it slowly begins to cool. I took it to the dealer and 2 days later, they said it just needed recharging. That didn’t make one bit of difference, and my service advisor apologies and didn’t charge me the $325. I needed my car back, but am have a rescheduled repair on the calendar.
Could this be a condenser issue or pressure sensor on the compressor?

No needs a direct pressure sensing valve in the compressor replaced. Common issue.

Thanks for the timely response. I’m dropping the car off at the dealership this afternoon. Will share what their diagnosis is. Hopefully it’s the same.

Hi ddanielcigars,

Did your dealer shed any further light on yours?

Mine has been doing the same & is also not low on Freon. I did notice that when I took a garden hose & sprayed the condenser with water (through the front grill) that it appeared to make a significant difference. So perhaps I'm not getting enough airflow on mine? When I get a chance, I'm going to try to better access it & get it rinsed/cleaned better. Otherwise, I'm thinking mine might be what Brutal has noted above.

Just a note? Use the TSB John Williams has posted above as that's the latest version 7 but be aware Jaguar had an earlier version (V6) out and several of the part numbers for the DPS solenoid have changed with the release of V7. Again like always be sure and use your VIN to determine which part number to get.

John does this failure set any codes? I ask because it appears to not set anything and it's just the drivers note poor AC performance.

I recently purchased this part for my 2014 XJR and it was very difficult to even find and I had to order it from the UK with an additional shipping charge of £30!
I don't have that problem but decided to get the part and keep it in stock.

I have never had this failure, just passing on information Iv'e picked up on the various forums.
Somebody in another tread (not sure which forum) actually bought a switch from Ali Express, fitted the switch & reported that it had cured their problem.

It was the pressure sensing valve, as someone here suggested. Also this was back in 2019, and I no longer own my XF. Traded it for a 2019 XJL Collection.

Thank you ddanielcigars & others above for clarifying. I now too am convinced it's my direct pressure sensing valve.
