Default 2012 XF map update

Just finished the latest USB map update for the nav system. Cost 199.00.

Took maybe 2 hours and change. Just let the car run and checked it from time to time. Followed the instructions that came with the USB stick.

It finished and rebooted in about a minute to the nav screen but didn't show a map. I did get a bit nervous.

Waited three minutes as instructed and then shut off car and locked it for about 30 minutes.

Restarted car and all was well!! Looks fine and I will check it out over the next few days. I don't expect any issues.

After reading some horror stories, I was nervous about the update. Had the USB for about 1 month, before I got up the nerve to actually do the update.

I know some say it's too expensive and the maps are outdated quick, but the version on the car was the original, when I bought it last year, and I figured....why not?

So if you do it, just follow the instructions and you should be OK. 👍🏼

Thanks for the info, G.

So, this update was only for the maps? Did any graphics change or did you notice any difference in UI speed?

Haven't really used it that much since the update. I think it does look better. Not sure about the speeds. Will have to mess with it a bit. So far nothing seems to have been negatively affected.

Until I can screen share WAZE onto my nav screen, I personally think built in nav systems are useless.

Do you not get the TMC Traffic Messaging updates on the Jag navigation in the US? I thought you did...

Just a heads up for anyone who is curious as to which map version they currently have in their car (for X250 XF, 2012MY onward) here is how you can check it

The map version is one year "behind" what it's marketed as, so the 30.16.03 in the video is actually a 2017 map.
