Default 2015 XF Oil Capacity

Hi,

Getting oil changed by dealer next week and in the past they have overfilled the oil.

Does anyone know the capacity of engine oil for a 2015 XF 3.0 SC AWD? (with filter being replaced as well)
I can't find this in owner's manual and Jaguar USA says to ask dealer who has been putting in too much every other time that oil was changed.

Thanks to all!

Yes, for some reason they like to keep it a mystery.
I have the same engine as you. I have changed the conventional way (drop the plastic under tray, drain plug method) and lately I've used the mityvac. I have been pulling out approximately 6.8L with the mityvac and the readings after refill have always come back as full, but not overfull.
I got tired of removing the plastic under tray, not only because of the many bolts, but mostly because it was a real bear to fit back properly around the drive shafts area.

Dealerships overfilling with oil is a common problem on the F-Type AWD, check out the F-Type forum. The AWD takes around half a litre less than the RWD but the dealership mechanic (often an apprentice) doesn't realise this. It's essentially the same motor both V6 and V8 and they both take the same amount of oil, the exact correct amount for the AWD is detailed somewhere on the F-Type forum.

Oz,

Your 6.8l amount translates into about 7.25 quarts which I had read somewhere else but can't remember where.

The last time they changed my oil they used 10 quarts and then they drained oil off when I went right back to them.

Funny story- Yesterday I called Jaguar Customer Relations and posed this question to them. The woman said that I would need to check with dealer. I said, " do you mean check with the dealer who has been doing it all wrong?"

She then said she would reach out to the technical dept. who said that there is a label affixed under the hood which gives the correct capacity. Of course I checked and found many labels but none listed oil capacity.

Thank you for this information.

I think that I just found answer in owners manual which I should have read more carefully.

It states that my car takes 7.25 litres of oil which equates to about 7.66 quarts.

This is listed for my 2015 3.0 SC AWD.

Be careful. I seem to recall from the F-Type forum that the amount listed in the owners manual is wrong, it lists the "standard" 7.25 litres which applies to the RWD, and JLR were simply too lazy or stupid to correct that text for the AWD. They have a habit of producing model generic owner manuals which are not corrected for sub-models. I think the correct amount for the AWD is 6.8 litres, but don't take my word for it, keep checking until you find the correct amount, I'm sure it is somewhere on the F-Type forum.

OZXFR,

In a previous post by you, you said that you used vacuum system and extracted 6.8 litres of oil and then put the same amount of oil back in to get a full reading on electronic dipstick.

That would be the equivalent of 7.18 quarts of oil. So.....it appears that the XF SC AWD uses approximately between 7 and 7.5 quarts of oil. Weird that owners manual states 7.25 litres when it is more likely 7.25 quarts.

I could not find this in the F type forum but truly appreciate your help.

I will discuss this further with service manager before they do oil change. Trying to avoid having to go back to have oil drained out for an accurate reading.

Just absurd about all of this trouble to get a decent oil change. Thanks again.

It's 6.5 litres for the AWD per this post on the F-Type forum: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...3/#post1630068

Hello,

The US specs and fluid capacities are attached for the 2015 XF 3.0 S/C AWD oil capacity calls for 7.25L. However, I have never pulled out more than 6.8L using the Mityvac, and it's not shown as low when only putting back 6.8L.

Default Oil Capacity

Hi Folks,

Had car at dealer for service yesterday.

I own a 2015 XF Portfolio 3.0 SC AWD and had initially posted asking about the oil capacity for this car since my last dealer oil change was overfilled. I told this to the service advisor while he was writing up the work order.

When the work was finished I looked at invoice and saw that they used 7 quarts of oil and also a new oil filter, etc..

My electronic dipstick showed oil level as full but not over or underfilled.

The total cost was $127 plus tax which I thought was reasonable considering how expensive the oil is. I specifically asked that they do not wash the car because during my last oil change their washing guys made so many scratches that it took me a full day of machine polishing to remove the mess that they made.

They did not try to upsell me anything like filters, etc.. and this was an unusually good dealer experience.
