Default 5.0 s/c valve to piston clearance

Does anyone know the 5.0 s/c valve to piston clearance? Is enough clearance available to possible have the camshafts reground? Since there aren't any available over the counter larger ones. Just a thought while I ponder going faster.....

When you say reground presumably you mean with different profile to give a higher lift? I can tell you there is not much clearance between the valves and the pistons, that is why the Pistons have recesses machined in them for the valve clearance. So I don't think there is much to be gained there.

Yes, I am looking for possibly more lift since that's not available to us on the aftermarket. Doesn't take a whole lot to make a big difference. I understand the valve relief on the pistons, have actually clearanced a few of those for this reason on American engines, but if I could do the math I would know exactly what if any improvements could be made. Just a thought to see if I can maximize my performance.

Sorry, can't help you with a definitive measurement. Of course you can also machine the pockets in the pistons deeper if you have higher lift.
