Default After market fob smart key - 2009 XF

So I see on line there are a lot of non-OEM suppliers of key fob's at a nice price, but I am worried they are no good or will screw up my car?

I have seen lots from kijiji, Ebay and Aliexpress and the thing I look for is if it is an old board in a new case, if they are virgin or scrubbed (reset to be reprogrammed) and correct MHz (315) and if they are OEM.

I grabbed one off ebay last year that was to have been scrubbed and had issues with the immobilizer codes matching up. I took the scary step of clearing all keys in JLR SDD and reprogramming. Got both to work but now the original one sometimes is not readable in the FOB slot under the dash while the new one works in all aspects. Go figure...switched the old one for second set and all works fine. I have a big project this coming spring and possibly purchasing a XFR for myself so I'll look at redoing it then and playing with both cars.

(Too bad the software for Maserati is so bloody expensive and there is no cheaper alternatives like Jag has with JLR SDD or I would be playing with a Quattroporte)

I have read of others using other tools to program keys and had really bad luck. Were you thinking of programming yourself or take into a dealer? Is there a dealer in Regina, I just know of VWAG in Saskatoon?
