Default Air conditioner question 2009 XF 4.2

Guys...on my 09 XF, the AC is blowing only hot air today. Was working fine and cold yesterday, no hint of trouble. I don't think it is issue with heater could because I have experienced that on other cars and I don't see or feel any moisture inside the car. The compressor seems to be audibly engaging and disengaging with climate control ac turned on and off. On my S type I once had an issue with dual climate control valves going bad and I was able to do that repair myself. I have not yet looked hard enough at this one to see if it has similar set up. So...what's the thinking? Why ice cold yesterday and today only hot?

Well, I'm just guessing on this. If the compressor seems to be working then I would take it to an A/C shop and have them check the system for leaks. You may have lost your A/C gas. It happens. Had it happen in my XKR. If the compressor is not working, then Rock Auto has the best price on new Denso compressors. If you need to replace the compressor, then you should replace the Receiver/Drier also.

Cheers,

Stu

So if anyone is still watching this one, an update....today I was going to add some 134 as I have on other cars, but encountered something odd so I stopped. The low side pressure reading is in the red warning high pressure zone of my charging devise and the compressor is clearly, unmistakeably cycling on and off, and the air in the car is not cold... although it does seem to be trying. I can make it hotter with the temp control and cooler if I lower it all the way down to 64* or less. So it seems like it just needs coolant but I'm reluctant to add 134 to the running system with the pressure reading already high. This problem sort of arose suddenly, as in within a 2 day period from last time it blew cold. Also..at one time there was a jaguar AC guru on the forum. Does anyone know if he's still here?
