Dude, just for go a coupe. For a 20 year old, the 2017 Infiniti Q60 should be your ride!

I would personally get an XE-S or wait for XE-R. They are much lighter and handle brilliantly.

Times and preferences have certainly changed. But don't worry about becoming that stereotypical old bald guy in a Jag like me. Bought a 1989 Caddy Sedan deVille at the age of 36. Big luxo road barge. Loved that V8, fine leather interior, and wire wheelcovers. Big, luxurious, land yacht. Put 200K miles on her...and never looked back.

Drive YOUR drive, let others worry about theirs. If you can make the monthly nut, keep it in good shape, put gas in it, and insure it...it's YOUR ride. Enjoy, if that's what you want.

Here we are on an XF forum and half you guys are telling him to buy something else?
Or a new model he may not be able to afford? Which in many ways isn't as good?

I found myself wondering the same thing when I was considering the XF - I couldn't help it but I thought it was a car for older people.

I was 21 when I got my 2011 xf 5 liter v8. Boy, have I loved the car in the 3 years that I have owned it. The roar has class and oompf without sounding like an obnoxious rocket you hear emanating from the back of a boy racer's car. The interior is beautiful, love the light blue accent touches, wood panel in the doors and center console. I also never knew air vents could rotate haha! Don't even get me started on the exterior - love it. One thing that actually surprised me the most about the car was how strong the brakes are, when I took it on a test drive I was driving like a new york cabbie. Eventually I figured out the feel, though!

I'm not going to lie and say I've had no problems with mine, but so far I have always been able to have the car fixed without much trouble. Honestly it has been more reliable than I would have thought it would have been.

I've gotten compliments consistently from friends and onlookers. But yet, it isn't loud - doesn't attract too much attention. It's not the stop and stare fixation that you get with a super car, but more of a glance and subtle appreciation. Much different type of attention. I have also managed to thus far avoid (knock on wood) any speeding tickets. But have I been driving like a grandma? - that is the question!

If I have learned anything during my ownership, if it's an "older person's car" it is because they have had the experience, wisdom and chance to learn what ingredients make a beautiful classy car. And that is precisely what the XF is.

Go for it!

I'm 27 and I got myself a '13 XF. I love everything about it.

It gets noticed and I get that "What do you do for a living?" conversation started with the ladies. Better than being in a BMW/Audi/Infiniti/Lexus and blending into the crowd.

Who cares what people say... Besides, when everyone is saying the same thing, it's almost always better to do the opposite. Screw 'em I say. I can't tell you how many times I get checked out when I'm cruising down Main St. in my red XE. Everyone's reaction is always "Woah, what's that?!"

If the XF is really what you want, then get it! I really wanted an XE and I got it and I have to say I've never been happier. It gets me giddy when I look out my window into the driveway and see her there. And I always look back, even if I'm just going to get the mail. At the end of the day, YOU'RE going to be in the drivers seat. What matters is if you're enjoying yourself or not.

Besides, I always say it's better to stand out than get lost in the myriad of BMWs, Mercs and Audis....
