Default another pads & rotors- dealers and parts

Im in northeast…. I'm trying jag mechanic many recommend-
had new rotors installed 11-12k miles ago and pads recently
----
I know i near rear pads and rotors
i called 4 dealerships all want in neighborhood of
$700-800 for front and same for backs!
1400-1600
-----
I callled Meriman parts oem….
the parts for both front and back rotors and pads are
$113 front pads
$224 front rotor

$75. rear pads
$183 rear rotor

total OEM parts $595.00

I think I buy them and bring to the Jag non dealer guy and have him charge my $85 per hr opposed to $130.

has anyone ever used merriam… please dont tell me how to do it myself.. I live in a condo and own a hammer-
I can make a hole in the wall……….

My rule of thumb has always been ( learned from past experiences) is to always use OEM rotors and pads when using the car for daily driving even if its a weekend warrior ( Race Car) Like my Supras, 997, GTR. Sure there are some that will make less dust and can brake better, but I have found from on track and street the stock stuff works best for all around use. I have done stainless lines and Motul fluid upgrades , but kept the stock rotors and pads all the time.

I Just did my 2010 XFR brakes and was thinking of using non OEM parts but decided to use the OEM stuff and I a mso glad I did. Just would be nice to have a lil less dust but don't want to wind up with a squeal or squeak.

And a last thought, I have 31k miles and I didnt wear into the sensors yet but wanted to change all 4 corners as I knew it must have been almost time. I felt I used the brakes a lil hard but I gues not as the wear was totally normal.

Assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that you'd be replacing front and rear brake pads and four rotors, I think your math is a little off.

I come up with $113 + $224 + $224 = $561 for front brake parts

....and $75 + $183 + $183 = $441 for rear brake parts

$441 + $561 = $1002 parts total

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are gonna do?

Never used Merriam but, hey, if they're selling true OEM for less than local dealers then I say "go for it" ! :-)

Cheers

How do you know you need pads again? I drive my car pretty hard and I made it 21,000 miles on the rear pads the fronts are still the factory pads. When they wear down you will get a warning.

I needed new rear pads at around 35,000 km which is around 21,000 miles. Just about down to the metal backing plates. The fronts are still fine at 59,000 km which is around 30,000 miles. Other cars I have owned exhibit the opposite relative brake wear pattern.
