Default Battery replacement

I have not been driving my 2012 XF much recently (5000 miles past year, 750 miles in the last 5 months). Took it in for oil change today at 22000 miles; when I picked it up they said they noticed it cranked slowly, so tested the battery and replaced it (warranty). Possibly too much time sitting in the garage and not enough time on the highway? Guess I need to get it out more.

Just get yourself a good battery trickle tender/charger. I got one from Sears a few years back for $20, I plug it up to my XFR when I know its going to be down more than 2 days. It even came with the connectors needed for permanent battery direct plug in.

I had similar issues until I got a pair of trickle chargers. I put them on once or twice a week overnight.

Thanks for the advice, guys.
Do you hook through the accessory port (cigarette lighter), quick disconnect at the battery, alligator clips, or ?.

Cig lighter power goes dead after 10 minutes on mine (2010), so I installed a quick connect to the battery and extended it to the small fuse compartment on the right side of the trunk. All I have to do is remove the small access cover and pull out the quick disconnect and I can connect the battery maintainer.

Heck, forgot about the time limit on the electronics. I guess nothing is "easy".

Or, if you are going to not drive it for a long period of time, you could always disconnect the battery.

I would not recommend that simply because you may have to reset all the electronics when you reconnect the battery.

I use the quick connects from the battery. Literally takes less than 30 seconds. I leave the trunk partially open.

I close the trunk. Plenty of cushion in the seal.
