I've read several old threads about problems with phones connecting via bluetooth and I've seen the TSB about this problem as well. I'm having this issue in my 09 and it is highly intermittent. Also the system will not manually connect nor will the phone disappear after it is deleted until a restart. At that time it does not always allow me to add the phone. Once it does it works but only when it connects. I started the car 6 times today and of the 6 the phone only connected twice.
Is there a way to determine if the TSB has been applied to my system without taking the car to the dealer? The car is still under a CPO warranty but only until February so I have not bothered to transfer the warranty. I may need to if the dealer needs to apply or check for this update.

The dealer here is no help over the phone and neither are two of the three shops I spoke with. I noticed that if I would turn the ignition on first, wait a minute then start the car the phone would reliably connect. This had the side affect of disabling the Cruise. So if I hit the ignition and only wait a second or two then start the car the phone connects every time and the cruise also works. I guess electrical gremlins are built into the Jaguar line.
I'm going to have to take it in for a software update as the TPMS is throwing phantom alarms and I've tried all the home remedies. Before I do I'm going to replace the battery as it appears original and in AZ it's due to be changed or it's going to fail and leave me stranded. It may be a failing battery as I've seen weird things happen to different vehicles when the batteries are on their way out.

Replacing the battery had no effect. I have not taken it in yet as its a real PITA to do so. Weird thing is the problem goes away at sustained highway speeds and comes and goes on the streets. Im quite sure its software and not the hardware issue others have reported.

I have a 2012 XF and Bluetooth connection in this car is very unreliable compared to BMW and Audi (personal experience). The phone has to be near the center console, as moving it further away towards the back, or leaving it in my pant pocket will result in intermittent signal loss.
I had this issue with Iphones and Androids, with or without cases. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Range is not an issue as i have left my phone in the house and it connected. The issue the secret decoder ring you need to connect. If i get in and start the car with one push i connect occasionally. If i push the start button once, wait then push again i connect 100% of the time. However if you wait too long to start the car the cruise is disabled. My solution? I get in push start then step on the brake. Stupid but it works everytime.
Talked to the dealer and the tsb for the software update can cause the module for the system to fail which is a 3000 dollar repair. Needless to say i didnt do it. My trick has now become habbit so it's seemless. I push the start button then step in the brake and all is well. Probably only 1 second in total time.
