Default Boot unlocking problem

Hi all,
Recently replaced my s type r with a 2008 XF SV8.

I think i may have a faulty boot switch. Before i buy a replacement I'm wondering if I'm missing something? When i open my boot from inside the vehicle from the dash switch all fine. the same goes from the smark key button and also the manual open with the key. all seem to be working fine. When i press the button on the bunder side of the boot there is no response. I'm wondering if maybe there is a fuse thats blown or is it common for these switches to fail? XF 2008 SV8.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

regards
Joe

The boot catch is electronic. If you can open the boot at all then the electronic latch is working. The problem with the boot lid switch may be broken wiring at the boot hinge rather than the boot lid switch itself. Does the metal emergency key open the boot lid when you turn it in the mechanical lock concealed by that rubber blanking plug?

I agree. If all other functions are releasing the boot/trunk, it's the rubber plunger button under the lid, I suspect. The latch is releasing both mechanically and electronically using all other means. Do you hear or anything or feel and feedback when you engage the lid button?

Absolutley no noise when the button is pressed at all. And no its not the camera that i'm pressing. Buy the way does anybody know if a replacement second hand lock will need to be reprogrammed to the car or is it purely just a switch??

My trunk button is also quite temperamental. I have to press it just the right way for it to work and open the trunk lid. I had it changed already but, doing it again. I also have had several occasions when the trunk would not open from any electrical source, only by the key. As a matter of fact I will be taking it back to the service next week to replace the wiring harness, hoping that will fix it once and for all.

Thanks to jaguarxfv8 the link that was supplies got me thinking so i followed the instructions and as was the case with the vast majority of people on that thread the culprit was 1 frayed wire. Had it resolidered and now have a working boot.
I bought a replacement wiring loom if anybody is interested that i no longer need (tested and working). I bought it and found out it was no use to me cause the loom was for an xf without the rear camera. Please contact me if interested.

regards
Joe

Are you sure it's not related to the Valet mode?

'Kristel' I think you may taken the wrong exit ramp on the internet superhighway. Peugeot was back about 100 miles or so.

Why are you trying to sell us parts?

Default disable trunk

I am experiencing this issue as well!

Does anybody know which fuse to pull to disable the trunk?

I just don't like the idea of the car not being able to lock due to this, and the annoying Trunk Open message

And I have a feeling on my appnt with the dealer that they will try to get me with replacing the whole assembly when it could be a wire or something minor.

in fac it's only due to a couples of bent or broke wire, you don't have to buy to whole harness just took it off and repair it yourself

This is a very different problem than that described above.

-Is the wire picture referenced a universal wire that works with all Jags?

-I am definately attempting to do this myself, I just don't have time for now, and that's why I wanted to disable any trunk functionality for about 2 weeks until I work on it..

Uhh why not? This is related to this? The trunk is telling the computer that its not locked/closed, (even though it is) that prevents the car from locking..

but there are the older jags that uses keys to arm the car.

isnt this post covering boot unlocking problems and trunk open messages?

No. This post relates only to the button not working and the trunk/boot not opening.
