Default Boot Won’t Unlock After Replacing Lead Harness

Hi everyone,

First off, a huge thank you to all of you champions who take the time to offer your help, experience, and wisdom—it’s truly appreciated!

I have a 2012 XF, and my reversing camera has never worked. This hasn’t been an issue for me since the parking sensors are fine, so I didn’t worry about fixing it. However, I recently encountered a new problem…

I was at the airport the other day, took out my luggage from the boot, and closed it. Since then, the car refuses to lock, claiming that the boot is still open, even though it’s clearly closed and locked. Here's the background:
- The boot button stopped working some time ago, so I’ve been using the button under the steering wheel or the one on my remote to open/close the boot.
- After some research, I discovered a few snapped wires in the boot loom and assumed this was the cause of the reversing camera issue. So, I ordered the replacement part from Jaguar (#C2Z19978), removed the old harness, and installed the new one.
- After installation, the reversing camera started working, but now I have a new problem:
- The boot won’t open. The button on the dash no longer works, nor does the button on the remote. Even when I try using the key manually under the boot, the latch doesn’t unlock, though the key seems to move as usual.
- Another odd thing is that the tail light on the boot is flickering.

Now, I can’t access the boot at all, and the car won’t lock because it still thinks the boot is open. It’s becoming a real headache.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again in advance for your help.
