Default Problems with boot lid

I have a 2.2l XF registered in 2011 which has recently giving problems with the boot closure starting with the external boot release button not operating then yesterday the boot soft close stopped working causing the boot to stay closed but registering as open and not allowing me to lock the car.
i have opened the boot using the external key lock in the boot but it still does not register as fully closed even when I slam it shut and still unable to open it using either the key fob or button in drivers area
i have tried to find the fuse for the boot area soft close mechanism but unable to locate it in the handbook
can anyone help me

Do that but take a look at the wires as the must bend every time the trunk is opened and shut. Several people have reported these wires can break but you can repair them yourself with a little DIY!

Yes. Wiring harness goes through the flexible black plastic tube next to the right hand hinge. Clip the tube and pull it back to see the wires. You'll find one / several will be broken. Either patch and rejoin, or buy replacement wiring harness which was around $120 I think. And a pretty easy swap out

I thought all X351 XJ's had the soft close trunk standard? Now the soft close doors were added in 2013.

Also we have a neat aftermarket mod that gives you remote trunk close from the FOB and dash button. Another little feature Jaguar should have made standard!

But he said it was an XF. And agree that I don't think they had soft close. Maybe he meant XJ then?

But then again in his first post he says it is a 2.2 litre and I don't think the XJ ever came with that motor.
I agree I have never heard of an XF with a soft close boot lid.
The plot thickens!

Hi guys - it is definitely an XF 2.2L with a soft close option under the luxury style
Am waiting for Jaguar to get the new harness/loom in and will fit and report 👍

Eventually bought the correct replacement wiring loom from local Jaguar parts department who were very helpful, and fitted it and everything now working
so many thanks to the Jaguar forum for pointing me towards the wiring loom
By the way the old loom had 3 breaks in it

The replacement loom cost me £29 from Jaguar
Jaguar wanted £190 to carry out diagnostics plus parts and labour on top
So undertaking it myself with your assistance was a result
