CD player has a "LOAD" button. What is that for?

can the CD player hold multiple discs?

Yup, my fiances Mercedes has a load button. You can load 6 Cds. Just put it in and the drive will do the rest.

Pretty cool cause its built into the deck, rather than in the trunk of the car

There are two types fitted. The iPod interface equipped cars with a USB port have a single CD player. The 6 CD changer has no iPod interface capability.

My '11 XFR loads 6 discs through the single slot in the dash, and yes, it does have iPod and a USB input. Different model years, maybe equipped differently?

Must be. In 2009 they came with one or the other. Also, it may have been a distinguishing "feature" of the base model. Perhaps the combo unit was an option on higher trim levels.

my mom's XF MY 2009, premium luxury, bowers and wilkins stereo, has BOTH ipod input and 6cd in-dash

Operation isn't that obvious. I seem to recall that the ability to load discs beyond one only appears after you load the first one. You may also need to go to the Audio menu.
