Hello all,
Car Details:
Jaguar X250 2008 PLATE - 2.7 DIESEL.
Since November 2021, I've noticed that my coolant levels are dropping - Nothing on Dash to indicate overheating or low coolant. Luckily I found it before that. - I've been topping it up with water etc now until I can get it to a garage. Rougly when topping this coolant up it lasts 1-2 weeks before topping again - When i Top the coolant up - I only top it up with half a kettle full.
The car runs fine - No loss of power.
These are the checks I have done.
Checked oil - Fine
Checked Oil Cap - Fine
No Smoke coming out of exhaust.
I'm only seeing these leaks when I'm parked at work - rarely see them outside my house. Now, yesterday I noticed (which I think) was a smell quite Strong/Sweet from my exhaust. Now after doing research people are saying 'HeadGasket'
It's finally booked in now on monday -I'm just looking to see if anyone has experienced this before.
Looks like it's leaking coolant at the front. Most likely one of the many plastic pipes or water pump. Which age and go brittle. Possible a head gasket although not a common issue on these cars
You're right to have it checked into. Any coolant leak can lead to overheating and very expensive or irreparable damage. I wouldn't drive it around until it's fixed
Liam, Your posting on a US based site, that never had the engine that you are asking about!
I have given you advice on another UK site, so not much point asking on here
