Default coolant leak, heater hose to firewall fitting

My low coolant warning came up briefly yesterday morning, the coolant is at the low level mark on the reservoir and it appears that the loss is at the fitting where the heater hose enters the firewall. I'll clean the residue off so I can get a better idea of whether it is coming from the hose clamp area, the o-ring area or a cracked fitting. I renewed all hoses when I had the engine out 2-3 years ago, also had to unclip the fitting from the heater when the climate control system was removed some time later.
Wondering if anyone has had trouble with these fittings leaking? Also whether there is a metal option available if the fitting is cracked?
