Good news for those who has problems with Air Vents Rotating
The JLR make Christmas present for those who has problems with Air Vents.
There are no longer need to order Air Vents assembly, according to JTB00465 dated 23rd of December 2015 for vehicles from VIN:R00547 was made the service clutch kit, part number C2Z31321
I am away from the car by about 150 mile but, yes, got a NAV screen. I tried to find that setting before to no avail.
I'm not with mine either right now..tonight I'll see if I can narrow it down for you and report back..Unless Zap beats me to it, since I butted in on your question to him, which is fine.
Nearly 10 years since it was posted, I found this thread and will be putting it to good use when C2Z31321 arrives. Given these pictures and a helpful YouTube video I am at last going to tackle this.
I've just dismantled mine and found the broken plastic ring clutch thing. Found a mob on the internet who supply an aftermarket part for a fraction of the best price I could find the genuine one, reviews are good. I ordered two, never hurts to have a spare with such things. I'll put things back together until they turn up. https://www.cs2000-z-tech.co.uk/prod...h-jlr-c2z31321
I am sure glad I found the setting to leave the darned things open!
Same here. There are enough little motors and servos whizzing along that break in these things. Leave them open. The rest of the world gets by with open dash vents.
Always struck me as something "hey, lookie what we can do" more than a useful function. YMMV, and no argument regarding taste. Just leave mine open, and no one has ever commented "hey, aren't these supposed to open and close?" They're more impressed by the tumescent gear selector...
I just installed the non-genuine vent clutch.
And the vent still doesn't work. It rotates only partially, pretty much what it was doing with the broken part in it. I guess the next step will be to take it apart again, I'll try operating the stepper motor with it detached from the assembly and see what it does.
