Dealer Windshield Sun Shade or WeatherTech?
As we are approaching the summer months here in Chicago my wife is already complaining about the sun heating up our car so i was going to buy a windshield shade. I really want to buy one that is custom fit for the car so it fits perfectly. I'm inclined to go buy the one shown at the dealer accessories store but has anyone purchased the Weather Tech one? Just curious if $85 really does buy a better shade or if it is just a total waste of money. Weather Tech states you can reverse the shade in the winter and it will help keep the car warmer (not warm, just warmer). Not sure i believe any of that hype so I thought I would reach out to the people here to see if anyone has any opinions. Thanks

Hey thanks for the replies. The Heatshield looks like a great way to go. Love $35 for custom fit instead of $85 for the Weathertech. Fortunately in Illinois tinting is now legal and ours is tinted, which i think looks great with the Vapour Grey. And no offense taken, Rique. To each his own. I like my 20 Volans and tints. It is quite possible I am a closet pimp haha

I have the oem sunshade with Jaguar XF written vertically on it on the right and left sides. It fits pretty good, quality is nice, best part is the logos on it.
I had the 3M Chrystalline windshield tint installed plus regular tint installed all the way around. All of it is 35% so it is legal here and really is not very dark at all, you can see the interior no problem. It should cut some of the sun's damaging rays and keep the leather looking nicer longer plus I use Lexol on the leather.

I like the fact that it folds up rather than rolls up, just a personal preference. I use it everday at work so I just have it sitting on the passenger side floor extending up onto the seat. If I have 4 people in the car, then I just lay it on the transmission tunell extending up onto the rear seat center arm rest. Sometimes a pain but I think it is necessary to protect the leather in the car.

I've been buying the Covercraft fold up sun shades for over ten years. They fit very well and the quality is great. You should also buy the storage pouch, which is sold separately. Below is the link for Covercraft. I think the Jaguar one is most likely made by Covercraft with the Jaguar logo added. I wouldn't get a roll up one as I think it's always going to try to curl back into a roll whenever you try to unroll it to use.

If you have never tried it, you would be amazed by how much heat reduction comes with even the mildest tint. The film takes away a lot of UV even if it isn't dark at all, as long as it is a high quality film. I don't like the dark look either. It is hard to tell the difference between my "tinted" side windows and the clear windshield, but the amount of heat coming through the windshield is quite shocking compared to the other windows.
