I have been very busy and not on the forum in the last week and am very surprised to read all of this above. I has zero issues and the job was great. Yesterday I was at the same tint shop looking to tint the windows on my newly acquired 2013 Camaro and learned the shop has new ownership since I had my work done on the XF. They insinuated that the previous owners and workers had done shoddy work to which I replied that the work I had done on my XF and Trailblazer SS was perfect in every way. I was going to take my new Camaro in there and now I probably won't.

I'm sorry you guys had issues and that I recommended the shop, but truly, when I had my work done I had a great experience.

just picked up the OEM sunshade at the dealer for $42 CAD including taxes. Only time I've ever encountered the dealer pricing to be considerably less than amazon/ebay, etc.

The dealer had to order it in because it wasn't a normally stocked item.....I'm thinking maybe they made a mistake on the pricing.

Yes they did, hope mine does too! Who is your dealer?

Is this the foam core Mylar covered foldable one? Roll up? Or stiffened cardboard style?

Ill PM the name of the dealer to those interested.

It's the foldable stiffened cardboard style with the jaguar and xf logo on the front

It's a genuine Jaguar USA dealer supplied accessory part number. It won't be a Jaguar UK factory part number.

Tinted windshields do not come close to reducing the heat that a sunshade does. In the southern states this is especially true. Also, first time I have ever heard of a state allowing front windshield tinting of any significance. Usually the laws for front windshield tints are so restrictive that the tint would make little difference anyway. Finally, most cars made in the last several years have windshield designs which filter out UV light (side windows only filter UVB). So the arguement for front windshield tinting is weak.

Tinting has very little effect on the greenhouse effect (the actual one, not the metaphorical climate change one) because that results mainly from infrared reflection off the inside of the glass.

Sunshades work because the light energy heats only the outside surface of the sunshade and not all of the car's interior. The good ones are made of insulating foam. The heat is restricted to the space between the windshield and the sunshade which can get very hot indeed, just touch the surface of the sunshade to feel how hot. The interior will still heat up eventually.

Tinting works by cutting down visible light which is the main source of the energy causing the heating. If you tinted the windshield enough to have any meaningful effect you could not see out properly. Ordinary untreated glass is a very effective UV filter anyway and laminated glass blocks it completely. It is the visible light that is the main source of the additional interior heating. Infrared from the sun gets into the car interior anyway and tint is not effective to reduce infrared by much.

Welcome to the forum Rosiemon,

I found several online listings for the OE sunshade Part Number C2Z21715. Perhaps surprisingly the lowest cost was from a Jaguar Dealer.
