But the third photo of this eBay auction for a 2011 XFR show them illuminated like this:



Is this a later (2011) thing, or an XFR thing? Honestly think I prefer mine, the ones in the eBay ad look a bit like the aftermarket ones you used to see on modified cars in the 90s

 

I have a 2009 XFS 3.0 diesel but same type clocks/display. The only problem with it is if you run with lights on during the day, the numbers on the clocks become effectively invisible. It strikes me that this wouldn't happen with the later set-up, so maybe it's to combat this.

 

Not sure if you ever found your answer, but my '11 XFR looks like yours...
