Hello Jaguar friends and family! This was one of those no good very bad weeks, that all the sudden became golden as of today.

----For the TLDR What are your impressions on the XFR? Specifically 2011.

I bought a 2011 XF Premium

Back in April 2010, it was the first brand new car I have ever owned and was a present to myself for my growing business. Absolutely have loved everything about the car. Especially being that before that I drove Jetta!

I recently incurred the first at fault accident I have ever had in 19 years of driving, woman hit me doing 30 and I was stopped.

TOTALED!!!!!

I am absolutely shocked, they are offering me $26,000 for my 2011 with 112,000 miles on it....

So anyways to the point, I dont like any other cars out there except the Ghibli and really ... it's not THAT great. So I am more than likely going to get another Jag (4 door for work needed).

I found an XFR with 31,000 miles on it in my area for a great deal, looks like it has to do with having the old face/lights. I am going to go from paying 790 per month for my XF to $270 for an XFR if the test drive goes well tomorrow.

So guys? Tell me why I SHOULD NOT buy an XFR

The only reason I can think of is that it would make me jealous.

From reading this forum, it definitely seems like the XFR folks are the ones with all the wonky engine issues. I have the 11 XF Premium, and it's a nice driver, and when I was in the market to buy a second XF, I stuck with the 5.0 NA because of what I've been reading.

Well, I have a few:

1. Envious stares
2. Ridiculous acceleration
3. Having to explain what the car is and how fast it actually is
4. The smile when you walk up to it when it's parked waiting for you and you get to say "That's mine".

But seriously, the only things I can think of are the issues many of us have already dealt with under warranty

1. E-Diff failing
2. Sunroof clips making noise
3. Dash leather puckering up
4. Water pump leaking
5. I seem to be an isolated case, but my windshield was delaminating and got that replaced (look to make sure the edges are smooth and not becoming porous)

Is the car a 2011 or 2010? If 2011, you might still have some warranty left and you could purchase an extended warranty from the dealer to cover anything tragic (the diff is serious money, I've heard close to 5 figures).

Ha, I like you already Kyanite.

My office is in Corona so from SM I drive by your house a few times a week, we should grab a drink. But only if I get the XFR because if not I don't want to be jealous of that beautiful blue beast in your avatar!

Yes the car is a 2011, with 31,900 miles on it. I drive about 25k per year for work so I should definitely get my use out of the warrant.

As for the problems you listed

1 - Since it would be a company car all repairs are easy.
2 - Are these 2 different
3 - from my old XF (premium 385)?
4 - This is standard, I had mine replaced at 82,000 and the guy said it was almost a lemon part, that they say it in every single jag and RR they serviced. Continued to say he expected it to be free upgrade in the future (probable BS)
5 - Very appreciative of the tip

Also, is that HP rating on your XFR at the wheels?

I had no idea about the performance mod-ability of these cars since browsing these forums.

I have a 92 Mitsubishi VR-4 (first high school car my dad taught me mechanics on) with 503 hp at the wheels (all wheel drive) and would love to chat more about what youve done.

Always good to know there are more Jaguar enthusiasts around. I've already connected with a few of the LA/SD guys. Another member and I are planning on going to Fontana sometime soon to run our cars (hopefully next month).

Can you PM me with your email or your number? I tried to PM you but believe I was unable because of the number of posts you have. If not, let me know and we'll figure some other way out to communicate.

Got pics of the VR4? I'm a sucker for the 91-93s but good examples are few and far between. I almost pulled the trigger on a Fiji Blue 91 VR4 project a few years ago, but ended up going with a stroker motor in the Cobra instead.

As you can tell from the only single pic I have of my XF (above) which is terrible.

The only thing I have is old pics from high school. But its still the same, didnt do anything cosmetic except red and black leather.

Here is a pic of a pic ... lol

I store it at my office, I'll take some pics for you next week.

My 2011 xfr has spent waaaaaay too much time in the shop, especially for what the car cost.

Smile Hello this Armadallc aka Alex 2010 XFR

I recently purchased my 2010 xfr after several months of research - Mercedes amg vs Audi rs vs BMW m5 - I ended up with the xfr to my surprise - it stacked up very well in a number of categories - i love the fact that that at least in ny it is still less well know and rarer to see on the streets - mechanically all high performance vehicles are going to have to be maintained so warranty is a must - price and mileage sounds great - make sure mechanical checks it out and know the history of the vehicle. I am having a blast and definitely recommend going for the 2011 xfr, if everything checks out.

Just do your research, specifically on the vehicles history. If its been well maintained by a dealer the info will be plentiful in a Carfax. Mine had all the work done that Kayanite mentioned in addition to a Supercharger rebuild having said that, the Jag is no different from ANY 500+ hp car from any other manufacturer in maintenance cost, THEY COST!

My car has been perfect except for the standard Jag fuel filler wonkiness (repaired under warranty) and the dash leather pulling away (again, fixed under warranty). No other issues at all.

I believe HP numbers are measured at the crank, not the wheels.

Personally, I find the '11 styling vastly preferable over '12 and up (sorry guys). The big headlights absolutely remind me of a hunting cat with pupils dilated and ready to pounce. The rear lights are also way better, as I find the addition of the lower reflector on the trunk softens that area way too much on the '12's.

Certainly it's not a perfect car, but it's a lot of car for the dollars and with my great experience from a reliability standpoint, I'm not complaining at all...
