Thanks! This worked on my 2013 XF - been driving me nuts for months.

 

Handy to be able to turn it off, so don't annoy your fellow astronomers with white light when you go to get something from your car though. ( For those that don't know astronomers have very dim red touches, and after viewing white light it takes around 20 mins of darkness for your sight to fully dark adjust ) The same procedure can be used to turn it off too by the way.

 

If you look in your glove box (don’t know what you Brit’s call that part of the car), and pull out your Jaguar manual, and go to the back subject index, and look under interior lights, and then go to that page, it clearly states, “hold down interior lamp for more than a second to reset auto dim interior lights.”
You see all car manufacturers give you a car manual with an index in the back, and put it inside your glovebox (to help you look up topics you may need assistance with concerning your Jaguar).
No need to really wring your hands and fret about things, or curse the gods (whichever god you may or may not believe in). Simply look in your Jaguar manual, which should be within your car’s glovebox (and again….don’t know what you Brit’s call that part of the car… thousand apologies….).

hmmmm….please don’t get your feathers ruffled about my note…but as I kept reading the responses to this members question, I thought to myself…..”doesn’t anyone read their car manual anymore!?! LOL…

Of course I looked in the manual first! But unlike NapaJag's manual, the index in mine did not have an entry for 'Interior Lights'.
