Default dreaded check engine light. says catalytic converter sensor

help lol. For the first time in my Jaguar 2010 xfr I was running very low on gas and all of a sudden I have that dreaded engine light that came on so I use the portable scanner that I had and it looks like it's had something to do with the catalytic converter or a sensor so I filled up the gas tank turned on the car and the code seem to have went away does anyone know anything about this maybe it's because I had low gas or I have to have something checked I do know before I bought the car they changed the catalytic converters the brand new ones anyway if anyone knows anything please share your experiences with me thank you so much

You and Jaguar warning lights will become old friends.

You always have to post the actual code.

I would check the fuel trims very carefully because these cars rarely damage the cats unless they are wacky. Running low on fuel will NOT do it.

You should get a scanner that saves past reads. Then you will always know your codes. Most people suggest to wait for a code to become persistent, then diagnose.

A cat code could indicate a bad cat, a bad O2 sensor, misfiring...etc. Don’t worry about it until it repeats and you get a code.

getting mine checked out Wednesday
getting the p0420 code anf was told it was the comverter(s) at the dealership and wanted like 1800 to replace
called my extended warranty and found out my sensors are covered so we shall see what happens
hopefully they can replace all of em but unlikely

hope its not the cat tho

soooo
results the p0420 code is bank 2, not sensor but converter, left side, driver side...
they "tested" the sensors supposedly amd checked a get other things and concluded it was my driver side cat that was messed up
service person told me to just get a universal one or even a good used one and put it on, price quoted for a factory one was 1700+

well dunno if I should get the universal one of a replacement one that includes everything so wouldn't have to cut/weld.
its maybe a 90 dollar difference in them..

now would it be to replace both at once or just the bad one?

thanks and hopefully the OP gets it sorted as well
