Easy access seat no longer moving
Hi. I have a 2014 MY XF. The alternator died earlier in the year. After it was replaced the drivers seat “easy access” mode no longer works. The seat used to move back when you got out and forward again when you got back in- this no longer does, although the electrics work fine when used manually. The steering wheel still moves up and down on entry and exit. The knob on the steering column is set to auto. I’ve tried messing with the seat memory- these still work perfectly, but no auto seat movement on entry /exit any more.
I’m pretty sure it’s a reset / reprogram thing, but have no idea where to start.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree as it was a functioning "thing" before the alternator replacement. Any help on how to get it working again would be appreciated.
I should add, I am in the UK - specs may differ from country to country.

Two things may help:-
1) If the seat has been moved and set to near the end of the tracks(think it is the last 50mm) the seat will not move on entry and exit.
2) If at any point seat movement has been obstructed the seat will lock out. There is an unlock procedure in the user manual.

Thanks for the suggestions. There is more than 50 mm travel (I sit reasonably far forward) and there have been no jams. I’ve tried moving the seat from extremity to extremity and also ran the seat recalibration sequence using a foxwell diagnostic tool, but it’s still the same afterwards. Sadly it doesn’t merit paying JLR £150 odd an hour to diagnose / remedy, as it falls into the minor inconvenience bucket.
I haven’t looked at my XF seats in detail but there is almost certainly a seat position potentiometer. On X308 these are known to wear and slip. This defect causes all manner of weird effects. Might be worth taking the seat out to investigate further. Agree that it’s not worth giving to a Jag dealer to fix.
